Mobile Library Bus

We have been lucky once again to visit the local Mobile Library Bus. We had so much fun choosing new books, especially finding new titles in the book series’ that we have been reading.

Prayerful Afternoon

We participated in a prayerful afternoon, where we visited other classrooms, to come together to experience different ways to pray. These prayer activities create a space for reflection, connection and spiritual renewal.
We first started with prayers of thanksgiving, where we created ‘mood boards’ for all the things we are grateful for, acknowledging both the big and small gifts we’ve received. We then moved to intercession prayers, where they lift up our needs of loved ones, the community, and the world, seeking healing, peace, and strength. This was followed by prayers of blessing, asking for continued guidance, protection, and favour for ourselves and others.

GANGS Workshop

We have been very lucky to have the people from St Giles come in to give a talk on how to keep safe and what makes a good citizen.

We found it very informative and gave us time to think about our own actions.

RE : Recreating the Last Supper

The Last Supper holds deep significance as the moment Jesus shared a final meal with His disciples, instituting the Eucharist as a symbol of His sacrifice. It represents love, unity, and the promise of salvation, reminding us of Christ’s selfless act for humanity. This sacred event calls us to reflect on gratitude, faith, and the importance of communion with God and one another. By remembering the Last Supper, we are invited to embrace humility, forgiveness, and the enduring power of Christ’s presence in our lives.

Here in year 5, we have recreated the Last Supper with a freeze frame.

Can you guess who in each group they are portraying?

COMPUTING - STOP MOTION

We have been incredibly lucky to have Mr Berry come into class to teaching us how Stop Motion works and to help us create our very own animation videos. He even brought in his own Lego figures for us to use, we then added extra props from around the classroom, and added sounds and dialogue. We will spend the rest of the term creating new creations, which Mr Berry has agreed to come back to see the end results.

VE Day Celebrations.

Today, our school came together to celebrate VE Day, a special occasion marking the end of World War II in Europe and the victory of peace and freedom. We remembered the sacrifices made by so many and honoured the courage of those who fought for a better future. To mark the day, we enjoyed biscuits and juice together, and played games that brought smiles and laughter, showing the spirit of unity and joy that VE Day represents.

Reading time!

Only been back a few days and already in our cozy reading corner, enjoying some reading for pleasure, promoting our Reading is King ethos. There is always a queue, once work is completed, to curl up under the blankets and escape in our favourite books - even in the heat!

RE: Islamic Workshop

We had the pleasure of attending an enlightening Islamic talk where the speaker warmly shared details of his daily routine, the rhythm of his prayers, and the spiritual depth they bring to his life. He also traced the origins of Islamic practices and thoughtfully connected them to elements of our Catholic faith, highlighting shared values and traditions. We were in rapture, deeply engaged by his sincerity and wisdom, and the conversation blossomed as we asked insightful and thought-provoking questions, eager to understand more about the intersections of our beliefs. It was a moment of genuine dialogue and mutual respect.
