Our Remote Education Provision
Remote education at Holy Family will only ever be considered as a last resort where a decision has been made that attendance at school is not possible, but pupils are able to continue learning. This would be when the school has no alternative but to close.
What should my child expect from remote education?
A pupil's first day or two of being educated remotely might look different from our standard approach, while we rake all necessary action to prepare for a longer period of remote learning. We aim to teach the same curriculum remotely as we do in school, wherever possible.
Teachers will provide daily Maths and English lessons and weekly lessons for all other subjects. Details of the work to be completed will be sent to parents via email at the start of each day of the school closure. We expect that remote learning (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly a minimum of 3 hours per day. Unlimited access to Times Table 'Rock Stars' is also be available for pupils who wish to access it.
In the event of a prolonged school closure, we will offer 2 'live lessons' a day; the Zoom links will be sent to parents via email.
We also recommend the use of the Oak National Academy website which provides a wide variety of learning and resources:
If my child does not have digital or online access at home, how will you support them to access remote education?
We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. If this is the case, parents may request a paper pack containing work for their child to complete.
What are your expectations for my child's engagement and the support that we a parents and carers should provide at home?
The school will keep a weekly record of work that the children complete. Staff can expect children and parents/carers to:
- Complete work to the deadline set by teachers
- Seek help from teachers if they need it
- Alert teachers if they are unable to complete work
- Make school aware if their child is unwell and unable to complete work
- Parents/carers should support their child by setting routines for the completion of work and provide a quiet learning space.
How will you work with me to help my child who needs additional support from adults to access remote education?
We recognise that some pupils may not be able to access remote education without support from adults at home. We acknowledge the difficulties this may place on our families and aim to work with our parents/carers to best support our pupils, setting work appropriate to the children's levels of understanding.
