Our Equality Objectives

At The Holy Family Catholic Primary School, we are committed to promoting equality, celebrating diversity and ensuring that every member of our school community is treated with dignity and respect.

Our approach reflects both our Catholic ethos and our commitment to creating an inclusive community in which every child has the opportunity to flourish.

Trust Equality Objectives

As part of Kent Catholic Schools’ Partnership (KCSP), we support the Trust’s commitment to recognising diversity and enabling equality of opportunity across all aspects of school and Trust life.

The Trust’s equality objectives include a commitment to:

  • create a culture in which everyone feels safe and confident to report harassment, discrimination or bullying, knowing that concerns will be addressed appropriately;

  • provide a coherent approach to pupils’ personal, social and emotional development, with clear links between PSHE, Religious Education, Relationships and Sex Education, safeguarding and personal development;

  • use appropriate research-informed strategies to enable all pupils to flourish academically, physically and emotionally;

  • promote excellent inclusive practice for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND);

  • ensure that the needs of individuals requiring additional support are considered within strategies and plans;

  • encourage schools to work collaboratively, sharing expertise, research and effective practice to strengthen provision for pupils with additional educational needs and SEND;

  • provide opportunities for current and aspiring leaders from diverse backgrounds to develop professionally and share their skills across the Trust; and

  • identify and develop future leaders through appropriate professional development opportunities.

The Trust also seeks to address inequalities by:

  • reducing gaps in attainment and achievement between different groups of pupils;

  • improving outcomes for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities;

  • reducing differences in outcomes between disadvantaged and non-disadvantaged pupils;

  • promoting cultural understanding through a rich range of experiences within and beyond the curriculum;

  • preventing and responding effectively to discrimination, hate incidents and prejudice-based bullying;

  • promoting equality of opportunity and diversity within the Trust workforce, including leadership, management and teaching roles; and

  • continuing to improve the quality and availability of equality information across the Trust.

School Equality Objectives

In addition to the Trust-wide objectives, The Holy Family Catholic Primary School sets and publishes equality objectives that reflect the needs and priorities of our own school community.

For each objective, we set out:

  • why the objective has been chosen;

  • what actions we intend to take to achieve it; and

  • the progress we are making towards achieving it.

Progress towards our school equality objectives is reviewed and updated regularly.
