Our Learning

At Holy Family, the curriculum for every area of learning begins in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). We are committed to removing any barriers to achievement, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.

Our aim is for all children to fulfil their God-given potential. We believe in nurturing each child's natural curiosity and enthusiasm for learning, helping them to develop the skills and confidence they need as they embark on their unique journey of lifelong learning.

Our curriculum is accessible to all, and together, as the Holy Family ‘family’, we work to overcome any challenges—supporting every child, every step of the way.

Our Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to equip children with the knowledge, self-belief, and cultural capital they need to succeed in life. Our practitioners carefully observe each child, considering their individual needs, interests, and stage of development. This understanding informs the planning of a sequenced, engaging, and appropriately challenging learning experience across all areas of the curriculum.

Our curriculum encompasses the seven areas of learning and development, which together provide the essential skills, knowledge, and experiences that support every child as they grow, learn, and flourish.

Our Inside Learning Enviroment

We take great pride in the quality of our learning environments at Holy Family, and our EYFS provision is no exception. The space is both exciting and well-organised, carefully designed to foster independence, autonomy, and a lifelong curiosity for learning.

Our Outside Learning Enviroment

At Holy Family, we are blessed to have a wonderful outdoor space, and we make the most of every opportunity to take our learning outside. Our outdoor provision supports our ambitious curriculum and enables all children to develop their knowledge and skills across all seven areas of learning.

Woven throughout the EYFS curriculum at Holy Family are the three Characteristics of Effective Learning:

Playing and exploring – children investigate, experience new things, and are encouraged to ‘have a go’.
Active learning – children concentrate, persevere through challenges, and take pride in their achievements.
Creating and thinking critically – children develop their own ideas, make connections, and build strategies for solving problems.
